Abstract

553,620. Pneumatic single-stroke apparatus. BENTON & STONE, Ltd., and MILNER, C. E. March 28, 1942, No. 4138. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A power unit for operating a machine tool part, such as a chuck, is mounted on the machine in place of, or in addition to, the normal hand-operated control lever and comprises a body part a, Fig. 1, carrying a pivoted compressed air or other fluid pressure cylinder g, the piston rod e being pivoted to a lever d actuating the chuck spindle c. The bearings i in which the cylinder is pivoted are preferably provided with rubber or other resilient bushes. The piston may be actuated in one direction by fluid pressure and returned by a spring. As shown, each end of the cylinder has a fluid connection k, k<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, the connection k being connected to a fitting n and the parts n, k<SP>1</SP> being connected by flexible pipes (not shown) to a control valve.
