Abstract

800,555. Ring spinning. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS, Ltd. Oct. 5, 1956 [Oct. 19,1955], No.29797/55. Class 120(2) In ring - spinning apparatus the mounting of the ring and ring rail is such that a relative high-speed to-and-fro motion in the axial direction is superimposed on the ordinary relative motion in the axial direction between the traveller and a point on the yarn receiving member, which high speed to- and-fro motion is sufficient to bring about cross-winding of the yarn on the package Preferably the mounting of the ring and the ring rail is arranged so that the axis of the ring interspindle. As shown this is achieved by mounting the whole ring rail 9 such that the axis 3 of the ring 5 is at an angle # to the axis 7 of the spindle angle # is preferably between 2 and 10 degrees. The ring rail may be left horizontal and ring holder raised at one side or the ring may be mounted on an inclined holder. Arrangements may also be provided for varying the angular relationship during winding. To counteract the degree of ellipticity of the ring section projected on to a plane perpendicular to the spindle axis the ring itself may be made elliptical. Specification 543,466 is referred to.
