908,379. Traverse motions for spinning- machines. COURTAULDS Ltd. July 13, 1959 [April 14, 1958], No. 11729/58. Class 120 (2). In a textile spinning machine in which the reciprocation of the spindle, cap or ring is determined by an eccentrically mounted, continuously rotatable cam follower 5 urged against a rotatable cam 7, the follower 5 is arranged to be driven more slowly than, and out of phase with the cam 7. By " out of phase with " is meant that the angular position of the cam follower is always different at the beginning of any two consecutive rotations of the cam. By this means, a long period variation is introduced in the traverse motion so that each traverse of the bobbins relative to the ring or cap takes place over a slightly different length of the bobbin. Specifications 475,023 and 489,781 are referred to.
