Abstract
799,645. Pressure gauges. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Feb. 13, 1956 [Feb. 26, 1955], No. 4493/56. Class 106 (2). [Also in Group XXIX]. A pressure measuring or indicating instrument is connected to the wall 15 of a pressure measuring chamber by a shut-off valve comprising a movable valve member 3 with passages 4, 5 connecting the outer end of the member with a point above the valve head 17, and a connecting element 1 for connection to the instrument, the element having a bore in which the valve member is mounted and a screw thread 7 to produce axial movements of itself and the valve member. The valve member 3 may be rigidly connected to the element 1 as by welding but as shown is loosely retained therein by a ring nut 10 on the reduced outer end of the valve member 3 and an inturned flange 8 on the connecting element. The latter has threads 6, 7 of opposite hand or of different pitch. The thread 7 is a tighter fit in the valve body 2 than the thread 6 is in the instrument so that the connecting element will not rotate in the valve body while the instrument is being screwed on. The valve body is screwed at 14 into the wall 15 of the pressure chamber and has a shoulder 18 to limit the downward movement of the connecting element. The element 1 has a hexagonal flange or a round flange 12 with recesses 13 to facilitate its rotation.
