Abstract
701,812. Gauging departure from standard form. FIELD, C. L. July 28, 1952 [May 2, 1951], No. 10291/51. Class 106 (2) A gauge for testing the relation between the face of a threaded nut and the thread comprises a sleeve member 5, a rod or tube 6 mounted in the bore of the sleeve and having a screw thread 7 on one end thereof which is adapted to carry a nut to be tested and the sleeve being constructed with an inclined plane gauging surface 10, the inclination of the gauging surface being at an angle to the axis of the screwed rod equal to the tolerance allowed on the face of the nut under test. In a modification shown in Fig. 4 the inclined surface may be replaced by a ball 14 projecting above the face 16 of the sleeve 5. A spring 18 may be provided to urge the nut under test against the gauging face.
