Abstract

799,565. Pens for recording instruments. CREED & CO., Ltd. Jan. 14, 1957, No. 1284/57. Class 146(3) [Also in Group XL(b)] Recording apparatus employing fluid ink as the marking medium and including a container for the ink, is provided with means whereby an operator can ascertain when the ink in the container has fallen below a predetermined level. In the arrangement shown for use with a ball-point writing device, the ink refill 1 is enclosed by an opaque tube 2 having an opening 8 corresponding to the predetermined level. A lamp 9 has its filament 10 opposite the hole 8 and the tube 2 is provided with an opening 7 leading to a frusto-conical baffle 3 with its larger end closed by a translucent sheet 6 fitted into an aperture in an inclined wall member 4 against which a sheet 5 is placed before it is fed to the scanning drum of the receiver.
