A cable gland comprises a male part a which screws into a female part b and clamps the armouring wire f between conical surfaces c on the parts, sealing rings h, i being provided. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the female part is provided with an extension forming a flameproof compartment for the cable.
