Classes 75(2) and 75(4) A lighting fitting intended for use with a straight tubular lamp source, or several such sources 6 parallel to each other in the same plane has a curved reflector 1, 2 extending parallel to the axis(es) of the source(s) the transverse sectional form of said reflector being defined by merging parts of a series of ellipses having a common 'focal line 5 and the eccentricity of the parts differing in step by step manner, or gradually from one longitudinal edge of the reflector to the other and each of the parts lying on one side the major axis of its ellipse and the plane of the plurality of sources 6, being arranged to pass through the focal line 5 of the reflector. The plane containing the lamps 6 is shown as coincident with the major axial plane 3-4 of the series of ellipses but it may be inclined thereto. A second reflector 11, 12, Fig. 4 may be located below the reflector 1, 2 having the same major axial plane 3, 4 and a focal line 10 with the lamps 6 located between the focal lines 5 and 10. The two reflectors may be joined along adjacent edges or they may be separate as shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 5 shows a reflector system of the kind shown in Fig. 4 enclosed in a casing 13 with shielding louvres 14-15 forming egg-crate shields in the lower portion of the side transmitting face and with shielding louvres 16, 17 forming a small area of egg-crate shields at the side of the transmitting bottom away from the small side 1. The fitting is arranged along or adjacent to a window wall with the lamps parallel to or slightly inclined to the wall so as to throw the'light into the interior of the room. A second parallel row of fittings may be provided spaced from the window wall.
