An electric lamp especially for motor-vehicles comprises a filament 3 positioned on the longitudinal axes of the lamp and a screening assembly including a light-reflecting plate A adjacent to and below the filament and having a reflecting leading wall C extending obliquely to and across the lamp axis and a raised side reflector wall B at one side of the plate, the filament and screening assembly being carried by a common support 4. A second reflecting wall may be provided at the other side of the plate. The front wall C may be curved or in two parts arranged in V formation. A slit may be provided in the screening assembly at one or both sides to allow emission of a small quantity of light in a forward direction.
