Abstract
793,868. Lamps forming line of light; lamp reflectors and refractors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. April 12, 1956 [Jan. 12, 1955], No. 1019/55. Classes 75(2) and 75(4) [Also in Group XXXVIII] An arrangement for producing a plurality of narrow fan-shaped light beams B which lie side-by-side inclined at slightly different angles and which are employed in an aircraft visual guiding system (see Group XXXVIII) comprises, in one construction, Figs. 7 and 8, a plurality of projection-type filament lamps L 1 -L 7 mounted in separate light-tight compartments C, the front walls O of which contain slits S suitably positioned and dimensioned to define the beams. In another construction, Fig. 6, a single elongated lamp or line of lamps is employed in conjunction with an elongated prismatic refractor plate R having elements arranged to direct rays to form beams in the required directions. The refractor may be replaced by a reflector. Reference is made without giving details to the use of a combination of reflector and refractor. Coloured filters may be associated with different parts of the reflector and/or refractor.
