Abstract

462,056. Lamps for directional illumination. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BEGGS, S. S. Sept. 19, 1935, No. 25984. Addition to 360,664. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] Light from a linear source 1 is directed into preferred planes parallel to the source by reflectors 3 which are above the source and form the main directing elements, and one or more glass strips 4, 4<1> which have on their inner or outer faces refracting prisms with their edges parallel to the light source and intercept light passing from the source in directions just below the edges of the reflectors. Additional refractors such as 6, 7 may be provided. A trough encloses the apparatus. This trough may be plain, as indicated at 5, or the refractor 7 may form part of it. The surface of the trough may be slightly diffusing where it is not cut into prisms. The strips 4, 4<1> and the refractor 6 may be part of a glass cylinder surrounding the source.
