Abstract

796,954. Tractor power-lift mechanisms. BUCHMUHLEN, W. Feb. 1, 1955 [Feb. 1, 1954], No. 2986/55. Class 79(1) A mechanical coupling between a tractor and a plough comprises parts which are automatically relatively movable in response to change in inclination of the longitudinal axis of the tractor to apply an oppositely-directed change in inclination to the longitudinal axis of the plough. As shown, a strut 17 rigidly secured to a plough beam 6 is pivotally connected at its lower end to links 8 pivoted at 9 to the tractor 1, each link 8 being pivotally connected at 14 to a link 12 pivoted at 13 to an arm 11 on a shaft 10. The shaft 10 is connected to a power lift system (not shown) to raise or lower the plough but the shaft 10 is capable of rotation independently of the power lift system. Pivoted at 19 on the strut 17 is a toggle linkage 18, 18<SP>1</SP>, the part 18<SP>1</SP> being secured to the shaft 10. The effective length of the part 18 may be variable. The invention is intended to enable the plough to be maintained at a uniform working depth over undulating ground. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 587,725 [Group XXXII].
