Abstract
796,380. Endless-chain elevators. AUMUND, G. C. April 26, 1956 [April 29, 1955; March 17, 1956], No. 12872/56. Class 78 (1). In an elevator 1 of considerable length having pivoted buckets 2, Fig. 1, the lifting side is divided into sections h, at the top of each of which is arranged a motor-driven drive a and a tensioning device 3. This device comprises a pair of guide wheels, the shafts of which are displaceable in vertical guides in opposition to the action of springs. Switches placed in the path of the wheels are engaged by them to cut off the current when the permissible tension is exceeded. The guiding wheels are so situated with respect to the driving wheels that the latter are engaged by the chains through 180 degrees. The buckets are tipped as they pass round a pair of guide wheels 9, Fig. 6, by the engagement of pins 12 with deflecting wheels 10, 11. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 7 chain wheels 13 in the downward run of the chains are lapped by them through 180 degrees. Chain wheels 16 on the same shaft as the wheels 13 are connected by chains 15 to chain wheels 17 mounted on the same shaft as the driving wheels 6 for the upward run. The chain wheel 16 has a greater number of teeth than the wheel 17 which is connected to its shaft by a slipping clutch 18. The downward movement is retarded by passing the chains over wheels connected to an electric generator.
