794,233. Parquet flooring. WINGERDEN, W. VAN. May 30, 1956, No. 16735/56. Classes 20(4) and 87(1) A method of laying a parquet floor comprises sticking elements such as thin wooden slats 1, Fig. 1, side-by-side on a sheet of paper 2 or other flexible sheeting to pre-form a section, laying a plurality of such sections side-by-side on a base to form an under layer, Fig. 2, and after the upper surfaces of the under layer sections have been coated with a permanently adhesive material, sticking thereto, in staggered or cross-wise relation to the elements of the under layer, elements such as slats 4 which have been coated with the adhesive material on their under surface. The paper sheet 2 may be brown paper impregnated with bitumen to provide a damp-proof layer, the slats 1 being assembled thereon so as to leave a margin 3 on two sides. On assembling the sections to form the under layer, the margins 3 of one section are covered by the adjacent sections to form a substantially continuous damp proof course. In a modification the flexible sheeting consists of canvas, linen, metal foil or plastic film or sheet. The permanently adhesive material may be rubber latex.
