Abstract

[Also in Division B5] An artificial ski-track comprises tapered elements 7, 10 of circular or polygonal crosssection, manufactured wholly or partly from a low frictional plastics material such as polytetra fluorethylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or nylon. The elements may either be integral with a plastics backing sheet as in Fig. 2, or secured to a separate backing sheet 11 of plastics, wood or metal by means of a second, apertured sheet of material 13 as shown in Fig. 4, or by means of a layer of hard-setting material spread over the backing sheet. In the case of the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 2, the elements 7 may be formed by passing a sheet of soft plastics material between two rollers, one being provided in its surface with tapered holes. The surface of the backing sheet may be made reversible by providing elements 7, 10 on each side of the backing sheet, and the elements may comprise a relatively inexpensive plastics material, coated with a further plastics material of low frictional properties.
