Abstract

Bore holes are cemented by depositing therein a flowable mixture of aluminous material in particulate form, phosphoric acid and water in such proportions that the mixture hardens in situ. The aluminous material may be clay, hydrated alumina, bauxite, anorthosite, or an aluminium oxide. The ratio of moles of aluminium to moles of phosphorus is between 0,5 and 20, whilst that between water and phosphorus is 1,8 to 64. An inert filler can be present e.g., sand, powdered coal or glass, ground nut shells, wood dust, coffee grounds, leather fibre, blast furnace dust, coke, "Gilsonite," "Bakelite" (both these latter being Registered Trade Marks). Fluorides-including complex fluorides-and sulphates can also be present.
