In boats with outboard motors adapted to steer and propel the boat, the axis of rotation of the rudder extends in the plane of the propeller. A propeller 4 and its underwater mounting 3 together with a steering fin 2 are arranged at the narrowest part of a stationary or rotatable nozzle 5 and the vertical axis of the propeller 4, the axis of rotation of the rudder pin 1 and the steering axis of the nozzle 5 when rotatable are located in the same line. The stationary nozzle permits the propeller to be turned through 360 degrees.
