Propeller drive for ships with an outboard drive with a rudder shaft that can be pivoted about a vertical pivot axis to control the ship. Outboard drive devices for ships are known in which the propeller shaft is arranged at the lower end of a vertical support housing with a control column. The propeller is mounted by means of its horizontal axis in a streamlined propeller housing, the Pro pellernabe is related to the streamlined shape of the housing.
The propeller and its support housing are referred to as the underwater part, which is mounted vertically in the overwater part by means of its tubular shaft, called the rudder shaft, and can be rotated by 3601 to steer the ship. Within the rudder post, the vertical drive shaft is mounted centrally, from which the power is transmitted via bevel gears to the propeller shaft or the propeller. The rudder shaft and the drive shaft have the same center of rotation.
In these propeller drives, the power transmission via the vertical drive shaft generates a torque on the underwater part, and this torque strives to take along the underwater part in its sense of rotation. The said, caused by the drive torque Schwenkmomen th on the propeller is sought in a known manner by arranging fins behind the propeller on its support housing züi. The achieved state of equilibrium of the two torques is only given in the zero position, that is, in the straight ahead position of the Ruderpro pellers.
As soon as the underwater body with its propeller moves out of its zero position for the purpose of control and takes an angle to the direction of travel, additional moments occur. In extreme control positions of the propeller, for example while the propeller is pivoted by 1800 from forward travel to reverse travel, these forces become so great that the rudder can no longer be held without additional transmission means.
The invention relates to a propeller drive for ships with an outboard drive with a rudder shaft that can be pivoted about a vertical pivot axis to control the ship, which differs from the known outboard drive devices in that the pivot axis of the rudder shaft is arranged in the propeller plane in order to avoid the defects mentioned.
Three exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown schematically in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows as a first embodiment the arrangement of the rudder stock with the underwater part without nozzle in a side view.
Fig. 2 and 3 show, as a second embodiment, the parts according to FIG. 1 in connection with a pivotable nozzle in a side view or in a front view.
Fig. 4 shows, as a third embodiment, the arrangement of the rudder stock and the underwater part in connection with a fixed nozzle in side view, Fig, 5 a plan view with the propeller in the control zero position and Fig. 6 a top view with the propeller in a control position.
In the embodiment of the propeller drive according to FIG. 1, the pivot axis e-f of the rudder shaft 1 is relocated to the plane E of the propeller 4. The streamlined propeller support housing is denoted by 3 , the propeller hub being incorporated into the streamlined shape of the housing. The propeller and the support housing form the underwater part and are firmly connected to the part 7 which is firmly attached to the rudder stock via a rudder fin 2a which is also part of the underwater part.
The rudder post 1 is relieved of the flow effects caused by the propeller and the laws applicable to a normal rudder can be used as a basis for the formation of the entire underwater part. The propeller is driven via the known drive shaft, not shown, which is arranged in the rudder shaft.
To change the direction of the ship, the body 2a, 3, 4 is adjusted via 1 so that the rudder fin 2a becomes effective. For momentum control, the changeover takes place around 18011 in order to go from forward travel to backward travel, and it can be carried out quickly because the propeller is turned over by 18011 around axis e-f located in the propeller plane E .
The embodiment according to FIG. 2 and 3 differs from that according to FIG. 1 in that the underwater part 2a, 3, formed from a rudder fin 2a and the housing is arranged within a nozzle 5 . The nozzle 5 is co-controlling and is firmly connected to the horizontally pivotable lower part. The nozzle 5 is supported on the body 3, 4 by means of supports 6 .
The arrangement is such that the axis of rotation ef of the rudder stock 1 with the center of gravity of the propeller 4 and the center of gravity of the parts 2a, 3 and 5 < / B> formed rudder lies in the plane E , so that the same advantages result for large versions as for small versions.
It is not always possible to use a swiveling, co-controlling nozzle, but the propeller, as shown in FIGS. 4-6, can also be provided with a fixed nozzle, for example with one Combination of screw tunnel and nozzle.
In this embodiment, the pivot axis ef of the rudder stock 1 goes through the center of gravity of the propeller and lies in the propeller plane E. The pivot axis ef is in the narrowest point of the nozzle < B> 5 relocated so that the propeller drive can be changed by 3600 within the nozzle 5 . The rudder fin 2a and the housing 3 are given a circular design or a size such that the named envelope can be passed through, as in particular FIGS. 5 and 6 show.
It is thus also possible to use the propeller, which can be pivoted about the vertical axis, in a tunnel, with or without a combination with a nozzle.
In the described embodiments of the propeller drive, according to the arrangement of the pivot axis of the rudder shaft in the pro pellerebene during the control process, that is, when the underwater body with the propeller rotates in the horizontal plane, no lever arm between the axis of the rudder shaft and the propeller and therefore also there is no additional streaming moment. With this construction it is irrelevant in which direction the propeller is flown against; The state of equilibrium between the drive torque and the compensation torque in the zero position is retained in every position as long as the drive torque and the counter torque generated are the same.
The latter depends on the flow rate and the pressure of the propeller stream. There is also a further advantage that the compensating or stabilizing fin 2a on the propeller support housing has a larger lever arm relative to the pivot axis and can therefore be made smaller than before with the same effect. The possible reduction of the lateran plane of the swivel body or the propeller support housing as a result also facilitates the swiveling of the rudder propeller.
