792,821. Double twist spindles. VEREINIGTE GLANZSTOFF-FABRIKEN AKTGES. Nov. 2, 1955 [Nov. 8, 1954], No. 31344/55. Class 120(2) In a textile double-twist cabling spindle having storage disc and a rotating lower delivery cap the storage disc comprises a peripheral ring which is fixed on a support member and has two rows of staggered protuberances arranged on the outer surface thereof and the lower delivery cap has a overhanging portion extending down as far as the middle of the outer surface of the ring. In the arrangement shown the storage disc consists of a supporting element 4 and a ring 5 the latter having on its external surface a number of hemispherical protuberances 8 and 9 arranged staggered relatively to one another. The delivery cap 6 has an overhanging portion 10 which extends downwardly to about the middle of the outer surface of ring 5. In operation yarn travels from the supply bobbin (not shown) down through the hollow shaft of the spindle core 3 and out through an opening 2. It then passes through a slot 12 in the support member 4 through an opening 13 in the ring 5 on to the outer surface thereof between protuberances 8 and 9. The degree of sliding friction and therefore the tension in the yarn is dependent on the amount that the protuberances 8 extending into the intesties between the protuberances 9. The protuberances may have other forms such as ellipsoidal, paraboloidal, pyramidal or conical. Specifications 758,055 and 776,400 are referred to.
