Abstract

792,288. Latches; striking plates. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Aug. 23, 1956 [Sept. 14, 1955], No. 25770/56. Class 44 An automobile door latch striker plate 10 comprises a wedge 34 mounted on a pin 38, which is loosely inserted in opposite holes 30, 32 in the striker plate, and removably retained by the opposite forces exerted by a spring 38, on the wedge and on an abutment 38a on the pin. The striker plate is C shaped having closed sides 14, 16, 12 with a back plate 17; a plate 22 with bolt engaging teeth 21 is mounted in a recess in the lower portion 12 of the striker plate. The recess in the striker plate receives a housing 19 and a rotary bolt 20. The wedge is slidably mounted in a recess 42, 28, 44, in the underside of the top portion 14, on a pin 38 the ends of which are inserted in blind holes 30, 32.
