An automobile door latch striker comprises a shoe 5 which is assembled, with a spring 12, into the back of the striker assembly, two surfaces 6, 7 forming a slide bed for the shoe, one end of the slide bed having a pin or button 13 engaging one end of the spring, the other end of which is lodged in a blind hole in the shoe. A nib 15 retains the shoe until the striker is fixed to a door post.
