571,234. Door fastenings. WILMOTBREEDEN, Ltd., STEPHENSON, C. H., and GOUGH, L. Feb. 7, 1944, No. 2239. [Class 44] A door fastening comprises tapered studs d fitted to the top and bottom of the door frame that enter holes c in casings a fitted to the door. Each casing contains a cam ring e that can be turned to press balls or other members g through openings in a sleeve h to engage the stud. A spring-loaded plunger k projects through a slot o in the cam ring and a hole in the sleeve h and has a collar m that fits a recess n in the cam ring. When the door is closed, the plunger k is forced back by engagement with the stud d and the collar m is moved from the recess n to allow a torsion spring i to turn the cam ring to press the balls against the stud. The cam rings are turned in the opposite direction to release the balls by cables p that are attached to spring-loaded slides q fitted with projections w engaged by arms t that are turned by a handle. In addition or alternatively the slides may be actuated by a projection v on a bar u engaging an arm x.
