Abstract

Class 86 In a concrete mixing drum comprising at least two separable elements normally closed one against the other, one end element being fixed to a rotary shaft and having an axial feed opening, at least one element of any two adjacent elements has a strip of deformable material so disposed as to come into contact with the other element on the closing of the drum. In the construction shown the mixer drum comprises two tubs 2, 5, the tub 5 being connected to the rotary shaft 1 and the tub 2 connected to a bearing 6 slidable upon the shaft 1. The tub 2 carries a strip 7 of deformable material and is pressed against the tub 5 by means comprising a collar 16 carrying a stirrup 15 linked to one end of a rod 14, the other end being connected to a lever 17 on a toothed segment which is engaged by a hand operated pinion 19. A stop 24 adjustable by a screw limits the compression of the strip 7 A chain 20 transmits rotary motion from the tub 5 to the tub 2. In another construction the drum comprises two end elements and a central cylindrical element and requires two deformable sealing strips.- One end element fixed to the rotary shaft has an axial feed opening.
