[Class 86] ' The stirrers of a mixer are mounted on a cross-shaped member 3 which fits on the top of a stationary container 1 and is prevented from rotation by the handles 2 of the container. There are three stirrers; one 8 is stationary and rigidly secured to the member 3, one 9 which is freely rotatable on a shaft 6 passing vertically through the member 3 and a third 12 which is fixed to the shaft 6 and rotates with it as a handle 7 is turned. All three stirrers may have intermeshing portions such as 11, and either of the movable stirrers may have a portion such as 13 for scraping the inside of the container. The stirrers may be in any order on the shaft, for example, the stationary stirrer may be at the bottom where it is supported by thin members on the member 3, or it may be held stationary in this position by the pressure of the shaft 6 acting downwardly and allowed to have a limited rotational movement by decreasing the downward pressure on the crank handle.
