Abstract

789,745. Jib cranes with travelling crabs. ANDERSON, J. March 27, 1956 [April 1, 1955], No. 9575/55. Class 78 (4). A hoist crab running on rails 12 on the jib of a luffing crane is urged in one direction by the load cable 17 and in the other direction by a cable 14. As shown, the load cable passes over a pulley 13 on the crab and thence to the heel of the jib, and the cable 14 passes from the crab over the jib head pulley 11. Alternatively the load cable may pass over pulleys 13 and 11, cable 14 passing directly from the crab to the heel of the jib.
