In a remote control, telegraph, or .like system in which two or more transmitters control a common receiver, each transmitter has associated with it a switch which when that transmitter is operated, automatically puts it in control of the receiver and renders the other transmitter or transmitters inoperative, the lastoperated transmitter remaining in control of the system until another transmitter is operated. As shown, the transmitters 1 and 2 are of known type having a series of contact segments, some of which are connected by resistors or reactors 4, and a movable member 5 comprising three brushes operated by a handle. The receiver is provided with a three-phase winding, the phases being respectively connected to the brushes of a transmitter. Each transmitter is provided with a switch 7 which is operated momentarily each time its transmitter is operated, the switch 7 for transmitter 1 being normally open and that for transmitter 2 normally closed. The switches 7 control a relay 8 with contact 9 providing a holding circuit for the relay, contacts 10, 11, 12, providing a connection between the transmitters and the receiver, and contact 13 controlling the circuit of an alarm 14. Each transmitter has a coincidence switch 6 which cuts off the supply to the alarm when the transmission of an order has been completed. Immediately a transmitter handle is moved to transmit a new order, the switch 6 closes to bring the alarm circuit into operation.
