Abstract
562,764. Electric selective control systems. NORRIS, W. H. Aug. 17, 1942, No. 11496. [Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XL] A wireless receiving arrangement comprises a step-by-step selector in which a movable contact member is-constantly urged to return to normal by a spring but is prevented from doing so between impulses by being coupled to a fly-wheel, the flywheel being braked during the time the stepping magnet is energized. The selector is identical with that described in Specification 554,643. In the controlling arrangement shown in Fig. 5, the selector magnet 1 is impulsed by relay 22 in the output of the. wireless receiver B, and in response, relays in circuits a-c are selectively operated to effect the desired control. Sets of three relays may control steering of a vessel in varying degrees to port or starboard and a further relay may control stoppage or reversal of propulsion. A number of receivers may be controlled from a common transmitter or transmitters to perform different functions by making connections to different sets of contacts in the several receivers. The invention may be applied to a two-way wireless telephone system as shown in Fig. 6. The selector has two wipers 3a, 3b and contact banks, 3a being associated with the receiving circuit and 3b with the transmitter A. To make a call, switch 25b at the transmitter is closed and receiver 24 is removed from switch-hook 19 whereby selector magnet 1 at the calling station is operated and held and engaged lamp 21 lit. Impulses are transmitted by operating dial 18 of normal construction. At the various other stations, relay 22 in the output of the wireless receiver B repeats the impulse to selector magnet 1, the transmitter at the desired station being connected up over wiper 3b and relay 20a for call bell 20 being connected up over wiper 3a. When that station replies by raising receiver 24, the switch magnet 1 is held over contacts of switch-hook 19 and the receiving circuit for speech is completed.
