789,063. Road rollers. AVELING- BARFORD, Ltd. June 27, 1956 [June 30, 1955], No. 18918/55. Class 6(1). A vibrating roller is characterized in that the vibratory force applied to the roller body 1 is developed by substantially linear reciprocation, in a vertical plane, of a mass 27 by a motor 12. As shown, the mass 27 is pivotally suspended by links 19, 19A from eccentric portions 22, 23 of a shaft 13 on which the roller is freely mounted and which is driven from the motor 12 by belt and pulley drive 17. A guiding handle is connected to the roller frame. The mass may be divided into two parts and fitted outside the roller, the two parts being confined to reciprocation in a vertical plane by engagement with guides mounted in the roller frame.
