Abstract
788,305. Dry shavers. ARVIN ELECTRIC Ltd.. and COX. E. F. June 14, 1956 [March 23, 1955], No. 8465/55. Class 131 A dry shaver of the reciprocating cutter type has an outer perforated shear plate and an inner cutter made of a frame with transverse slots in which separatelyformed cutting blades are secured. The cutter 23 is forced against the shear-plate 24 by means of a spring 35 which also conveys the drive from the armature 15 to the cutter as described in Specification 788,304. The shear-plate is secured by rivets 36 to a cap 25 which is held on to the shaver casing by means of projections 25a and 25b. It is released by means of the button 27 which removes the springs 26 from the projection 25b. The cutter frame 30 is of sheet metal and bent to a trough section and the cutter plates 31 are set into slots formed in the base and side walls of the trough and are secured by a resin adhesive. The outer edges of all the plates are ground to similar circularly arcuate form. The edges of the cutter frame are bent inwards to form flanges 30a which are slidably engaged in guide grooves formed in the casing. The shear-plate is flexible and the cutter can be moved inwards as far as the guide grooves allow, against the action of the spring 35. A guard 33 is placed over the shear-plate when not in use, held in place by snapping over rivet 36.
