Abstract
786,996. Storing and dispensing apparatus. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. Dec. 16, 1955 [Dec. 23, 1954], No. 36103/55. Class 18. [Also in Group XVIII] The platform 24 of a device for supporting a stack of dishes or other articles with the top at a constant level is supported by a helical spring 30 the lower end of which is free to rotate on a ball bearing while the platform 24 is held against rotation. In the construction illustrated arms 25 on the platform 24 engage channels 18 pressed in the wall 10 of the device to hold the platform against rotation. The spring 30 is secured at its upper end to a support 26 on the platform 24 and at its lower end to a support 34 mounted by a ball bearing 46 on a member 42 restrained against rotation by arms 41 engaging the channels 18 and carried by a screw 50 which may be adjusted by a knob 62 as described in Specification 707,807 [Group XXX]. The upward movement of the platform 24 is limited by engagement of the arms 25 with buffers 22 mounted in the channels 18 while upward adjustment of the member 42 on the screw 50 is limited by a washer 51. A collar 54 on the screw 50 is pressed by a spring 60 into engagement with a closure 56 secured to the bottom of the device by bayonet fastenings (not shown). The device may be set into a counter 14 as illustrated.
