Abstract
800,187. Self-levelling platform for dispensing articles. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. June 15, 1956, No. 18537/56. Class 78 (2). [Also in Groups XVII and XVIII] A self-levelling device, which maintains articles D at a constant height by means of spring 26, is adjusted for articles of differing weights by inactivating a portion of said spring. As shown (Fig. 1) spring 26 is welded to disc 20 so as to be rotatable by knob 22, a rigid inflexible coil 28 being also welded to disc 20 and being coupled to the spring 26 by snubbing member 30 guided by slots 40, 42, formed in the framework 10 whereby manual rotation of the knob causes a vertical sliding movement of said member along both spring 26 and coil 28 so that the effective length of the spring 26 is varied. Alternatively both spring 26 and coil 28 may be rotated relatively, so as to vary the upper level of the device. In Fig. 4 a self-levelling apparatus of the type having a platform supported by chains has the counterbalancing springs 92 adjustably inactivated by member 90 lodged in slotted holders 96. Specification 530,590 is referred to.
