Abstract

A hand facing weld deposit is formed of an alloy within the following range of compositions in per cent by weight. C, 0.2-0.85, Mn, 9.0-19.0, Ni, 0-4.0, Cr, 11.0-21.0, N, 0.-0.3, Mo and/or W 0-5.0, V and/or Nb 0-2.0, Fe, and impurities, the balance, the proportions being such that Mn + 2Ni is between 13 and 22 and Mo + W + 2 (V + Nb) is from 10 (C-0.7) to 10 (C + 0.2). Si may also be present up to 2.
