Abstract

785,610. Fireproofing textile materials. BRITISH JUTE TRADE RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. June 8, 1955 [July 1, 1954], No. 19292/54. Class 140. Textiles such as jute are fireproofed by treatment with an aqueous dispersion containing antimony orthophosphate and a chlorinecontaining vinyl thermoplastic resin, together with a suspending agent for holding the antimony phosphate in suspension. Carboxymethylcellulose may be used as suspending agent and the resin may be internally modified by copolymerization or may be used in conjunction with a plasticizer such as tricresyl phosphate. The dispersion may be applied by impregnation, padding or by means of doctor blades. Fillers such as china clay, may be used.
