Abstract
760,115. Coated fabrics; laminated materials. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. June 28, 1954 [July 8, 1953], No. 18886/53. Class 140. Textile fabric is impregnated with a solution in a plasticizer of polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of vinyl chloride and a minor proportion of a copolymerizable compound. In an example, the impregnating solution comprises polyvinyl chloride, dioctyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate and lead stearate. The composition may also include a fungicide and, as a cross-linking compound, tetraethylene pentamine. The fabric may be placed in an exhausted chamber and the solution admitted at 100‹ C. until the fabric is covered. Excess solution is removed by pressure rollers. Alternatively, the solution in the form of a semi-gel is spread upon the fabric by a doctor blade. The fabric is then heated by passage over a hot-plate or heated rotating drum to melt the semi-gel. The impregnated fabric may be further coated with a polyvinyl compound and such coated fabrics may be moulded together to form a laminated belt. Specification 726,667 is referred to.
