Class 20(3) The frames for fixed side panels 1 and the fixed frames for a casement 2 and a pivoted fanlight 3 in a window construction, Fig. 1, are formed from sections 6 the adjacent ones of which are keyed together by sections 8, having ribs 9 which engage with ribs 4 on the frame sections 6. The peripheral sections 6 engage in a similar manner with surround sections 28 which are secured to anchors 32 bedded in the surrounding brickwork. Flanges 25 on the surround sections 28 are grooved at 26 to receive watertight jointing 27. The moving frames for the casement 2 and the fanlight 3 are formed from hollow sections 33, heels 17 and flanges 16<SP>1</SP> of which co-operate respectively with flanges 7 and heels 7<SP>1</SP> on the fixed frame sections 6. The moving frames are mounted on the fixed frames by means of hinges such as 20 which are fastened to the flanges 16<SP>1</SP> of the moving frames and to the flanges 5 of the adjacent fixed frame sections 6. Panes, arranged on the flanges 16. 7 of the moving and fixed frames respectively are secured, e.g. by mastic. By modifyinig the sections 33 the panes may be disposed on the outside. A drip moulding 21, having a rib 22 which clasps on to the associated section 33 end is imbedded in the mastic can be fitted to the transverse sections 33. The key sections 8 may be formed with a hollow main web having a drip moulding on one of its ends. Key sections 8 which exceed the width of the fixed frame sections 6 are used when the window frames are large, and the hollow web may accommodate a flat reinforcing iron. The sections, which may also be adapted for door frames, are joined together e.g. by welding.
