Abstract

Aminoalkane sulphonic acids are obtained by reaction between a mineral acid salt of an aminoalkane sulphonyl chloride with water, or an alcohol. In examples, hydrochlorides of 1-aminobutane-sulphochloride, 1-aminopentane-sulphochloride, 1 - amino - hexane - sulphochloride, are treated with water at room temperature, under reflux, at an elevated temperature under pressure, or at an elevated temperature by passing steam at 150 DEG C. through the solution, or with absolute alcohol under reflux, to give the corresponding amino-butane, pentane, &c., sulphonic acids. Other mineral acid salts specified for starting-materials are the hydrofluoride, hydrobromate and sulphate salts. Specifications 738,527 and 775,663 are referred to.
