Abstract
Zinc dithiocarbamates of low solubility in water are obtained by reacting an aqueous suspension of zinc oxide or hydroxide with an aqueous solution of an ammonium dithiocarbamate, if desired in the presence of excess ammonia to get the product in a suitable physical form. There may be present an anionic or non-ionic dispersing agent such as sodium lignin sulphonate. The reaction temperature may be 10-40 DEG C. Examples are given of the preparation of zinc ethylene-bis-dithiocarbamate, in one case the ammonium salt being made in situ from ethylene diamine, carbon disulphide and ammonia.
