783,589. Letter boxes. BOYD, J. R. Nov. 25, 1955 [April 2, 1955], No. 33854/55. Class 18. A letter box comprises sloping top and bottom walls 3, 4 joined by vertical sides 2 with open front and rear ends closed by covers 16, 18 hinged each along an edge respectively to a front and rear edge of the box and each opening outwardly of the box being interconnected so that opening the front cover causes the rear cover to open. As shown, Fig. 1, the covers 16, 18 are hinged at the top on horizontal hinge pins 14, 19 which have right angle extensions 22, 24 arranged so that the extension 22 of the front hinge pin 14 lies on an enlargement 26 at the end of the extension 24 whereby the cover 18 is raised when the cover 16 is opened. A flange 8 of an escutcheon 7 surrounding the front of the box permits the securing of the box to the front skin of a cavity wall, a similar arrangement being provided at the rear.
