Abstract

986,028. Boxes. FARWIG & BULLOCK Ltd. Dec. 20, 1963 [Dec. 20, 1962], No. 48145/62. Heading B8P. A hinged lid on a box is rendered immovable in directions normal to the direction of the closing movement by interengagement of U- shaped and H-shaped formations 8 and 13 on the lid and tray respectively. These formations are preferably formed on all the walls of the lid and tray and are of extruded polyethylene although metals such as brass or aluminium may be used. The formations adjacent the hinge are formed to permit " rolling " closing and opening action. The formations are riveted and/or stuck to the walls of the box. The corners are strengthened by moulded parts 18, 19 comprising right-angled bases having skirt portions 20, 21 and further thinner skirt portions 22, 23.
