Abstract

<PICT:0782400/IV (b)/1> <PICT:0782400/IV (b)/2> Apparatus for dyeing or otherwise fluid treating, for example drying, textile materials comprises a pressure container 1 having a heatcontrolled steam jacket 2 or other heating pipes, a treatment fluid exit or inlet pipe 5 and a vacuum connection 6, and a wheeled frame movable on a carriage 48 into or out of the container, the frame having a shaft 14 journalled in pedestal bearings 13 and adapted to be coupled in operation to a hollow pipe 18 rotatable by gears 42, 43 and through which pipe 18 treatment fluid is supplied from either of the connections 46, 47, the frame also being provided with a fixed internally toothed gear wheel 38 meshing with gears 36 coupled to individual beams 16, so that the beams may be rotated about the shaft 14 and also about their individual axes. The shaft 14 is widened at its rear end 17, Fig. 3 (not shown), and pipes 30, 32 are provided to supply fluid to each beam 16, which beams are coupled to the frame in a manner similar to the introduction of the pipe 18 into the main shaft 14. In operation the frame is loaded with beams 16 and wheeled into the container, the shaft 14 is rotatably connected by couplings to the pipe 18, and treating liquid, dry air or steam, is then passed through the pipe 18, through tubes 30, 32 and the material, into the container and away through the connection 5. The container is more than half full of liquor when a dyeing operation is in progress, and is subjected to vacuum previously to supplying liquor. The treating fluid may be reversed in flow, circulating from the connection 5 to the connections at the end of the pipe 18.
