Abstract

779,043. Yielding bearing supports. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 10, 1955 [Oct. 12, 1954], No. 28806/55. Class 12 (1). In an X-ray generator comprising a sealed envelope 11 in which an anode element 12 is rotatably supported on a fixed spindle 20 by ball bearings 24, 24<SP>1</SP>, at least one of the bearing races is supported with respect to its associated element by means of a spring disc 36. As shown in Fig. 3, the outer races of both bearings 24, 241 are supported by discs 36 which are oppositely tensioned to resiliently urge the corresponding races in opposite directions. The flexibility of the disc may be improved by the provision of circular flutes 39, Fig. 6, holes 40, Fig. 7, or edge-opening slots 41, Fig. 8. In further modifications, shown in Figs. 9 and 10, the inner races 125 are resiliently supported by spring discs 136 having central collars 1361 on which the inner races 125 are adapted to be seated.
