Abstract

817,937. Ball bearings. VYZKUMNY USTAV PRO VALIVA LOZISKA, and BOHACEK, F. Aug. 24, 1956 [Sept. 29, 1955], No. 25985/56. Class 12 (1). A high-speed spindle 1, such as the spindle of a grinding machine, is rotatably supported at each end by two pairs of angular contact ball bearings 2, 3, 4, 5, the bearing of each pair being assembled face to face with their inner races, in contact or, as shown, separated by a spacing ring 8 and the outer races 9 of the outer bearings 2, 5 being axially pre-loaded by disc springs 10 compressed by nuts 11. One pair of bearings 4, 5 is fitted in a housing 6 which is free to slide axially within. the limits of expansion of the spindle. At the point A on the spindle a draw-off ring 12 is mounted and is adapted to abut a supporting ring 13 and cause the bearings 4, 5 to slip off the spindle.
