Abstract
778,796. Thermionic cathode constructions. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 21, 1955 [Oct. 22, 1954], No. 30117/55. Class 39(1). A number of heated filaments 12 are stretched across an aperture 11 in a disc 10 and connection 13 is made to intermediate points of the filaments within the aperture. By applying heating voltage between the central lead 14 and the disc 10 a largely non-inductive current distribution is obtained. The disc 10 may be fitted into the end of a cylindrical support member. As shown, the filaments form a directly-heated cathode but they may be the heaters of an indirectlyheated cathode.
