Abstract
777,970. Combustion chambers. RICCARDO & CO. ENGINEERS (1927), Ltd. Sept. 22, 1955 [Oct. 11, 1954; Oct. 11, 1954], Nos. 29207/54 and 29208/54. Class 7 (3). A combustion chamber D<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 1, in which the compressed air rotates is provided with a flat base F<SP>1</SP> into which the inlet G opens at an acute angle, the side wall F<SP>2</SP> adjacent the surface F<SP>1</SP> being arranged at an obtuse angle to the surface F<SP>1</SP>. The passage G is formed in a hot plug F and is rectangular in crosssection. The surface F<SP>2</SP> is frusto-conical and the upper portion D<SP>3</SP> of the chamber is hemispherical and of the same diameter as a short cylindrical wall portion F<SP>3</SP> surmounting the portion F<SP>2</SP>. In a modification the hemispherical portion D<SP>3</SP> is replaced by a frusto-conical portion, similar to the portion F<SP>2</SP>, with its widest end adjacent the cylindrical portion F<SP>3</SP>.
