930,498. Combustion chambers. ROVER CO. Ltd. Dec. 28, 1960 [Oct. 6, 1959], No. 33772/59. Class 7(3). A combustion chamber 7 has a throat 10 discharging into a Veeshaped recess 11 in the piston, the limbs 12 of the recess leading the gases into combustion pockets 4 beneath the inlet and exhaust valves. The recess 11 may be of constant depth or may slope upwardly towards the pockets 4 and the limbs 12 may discharge tangentially into the pockets 4 or may be directed towards the centres thereof. The limbs 12 may widen towards the pockets 4.
