Abstract

775,895. Arc-rupturing in switches. CHILTON AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd. Sept. 26, 1955 [Sept. 27, 1954], No. 27834/54. Class 38(5) The operating mechanism of a circuitbreaker having a base 1, an enclosing casing 2 and an arc-chute 7, is protected from flames from the arc-chute by a removable apertured partition 13 surrounding the discharge mouth of the arc-chute and supported in grooves 14, 15 formed in the walls of the casing and/or in the base. The outlet 22 in the end wall of the casing may also be provided with a perforated flame guard 19 housed in grooves marginally arranged about the outlet. In a multipole arrangement the base would be provided with intermediate walls with grooves registering with the grooves 14 in the casing to support the various partitions 13. The tripping electromagnet may be provided with blow-out poles 10.
