Abstract

995,706. Arc-rupturing in switches; automatic circuit breakers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. July 15, 1963 [July 27, 1962], No. 27909/63. Heading H2B. A circuit breaker is provided with an arcchute comprising a plurality of spaced metal plates 34, notched to accommodate a moving contact 17 and supported between insulating side plates 33. The lowermost plate 34A is extended and insulating deflector plates 37, 40 are provided to define a passage leading to a wire gauze vent 39 in the casing. The plate 34 is made thicker than the other plates to provide additional heat-absorbing ability.
