Abstract

1,204,620. Arc extinguishing in switches. INTREPRINDEREA PENTRU RATIONALIZAREA SI MODERNIZAREA INSTALATIILOR ENERGETICE BUCURESTI. 1 May, 1968 [14 July, 1967; 20 Dec., 1967], No. 20730/68. Heading H1N. In order to assist in extinguishing the arc in an oil-break switch a plurality of blades 8 are arranged to sweep through the arc path between each pair of contacts 2, 6. A three-armed rotor is trapped between fixed plates 12, 13 and is arranged to be turned by screws b attached to the movable contact member 5. The rotor and its associated parts are insulating though if the other insulation is adequate the rotor may be conducting. The rotor is grooved, a, so as to assist it to sweep fresh oil into the arc path. In an alternative form (Fig. 5, not shown) an assembly of parallel plates moves rectilinearly across the arc path.
