Abstract
1,147,843. Automatic circuit breakers. HEINEMANN ELECTRIC CO. 3 Jan., 1967 [28 Jan., 1966], No. 249/67. Heading H1N. The moulded case of an automatic circuit breaker consists of two abutting halves each comprising a side wall 70 and four peripheral walls 71-74 defining together a main cavity containing the circuit breaker parts and one pair of abutting peripheral walls having outwardly projecting parts 90 defining an auxiliary cavity 100 communicating with the main cavity and forming an opening to the outside. The auxiliary cavity may be filled by a blanking plug (200) (Fig. 9, not shown) formed with holes (202) co-operating with pegs 120 in the cavity to retain it in place. Alternatively parts of the plug (200) may be broken away and it may be fitted with one or two auxiliary terminals (230, 231) (Figs. 7, 11, not shown) to provide separate connections to the tripping electromagnet (133) and moving contact arm (153) so that the breaker may be arranged for series or shunt tripping or as a relay. Alternatively the cavity 100 may be fitted with a microswitch (210) (Fig. 8, not shown) operated by the parts of the circuit breaker to control indicators. The two halves of the case are held together by rivets, two of which (24) (Figs. 1, 3, not shown) have tapped central portions used to mount the circuit breaker upon a panel.
