Abstract

1,190,478. Electromagnetic contactors. D. O. HAGGLUND. 4 June, 1968 [5 June, 1967], No. 26410/68. Heading H1N. A contactor comprising a solenoid 62 which axially moves a rod 58 carrying a plurality of bridging contacts, such as 60, is mounted on the rear wall 36 of a support housing 10 which has apertures 18 in its front wall 16 receiving associated plug-in overload devices such as cut-outs or cartridge-fuse holders 14, 66, 68, 76, 78 and 80, having front parts 46 which seal the apertures 18. The housing 10 is mounted in a cabinet or on a panel by means of hinge 42 and a catch 44. An insulating cover 52 having spark-quenching plates 74 fits over the main contacts to form switching chambers therefor while a further switching chamber (not shown) encloses auxiliary contacts (82 to 90, Fig. 2, not shown) carried on rod 58 nearer the solenoid end. The solenoid and movable contact assembly is mounted on a plate 114 for easy removal for maintenance purposes (Fig. 3, not shown). Each fuse-holder carries two cartridge fuses (28, 30, Fig. 4, not shown).
